The Great Wall of Shingletown

Dave has been hard at work around here.

We got this Coronado Honey Ledge and we think it is a great improvement over the outdated brick. The color is Souix Falls. It looks very different in person than in Coronado's advertising photos (see lower picture). After bringing several samples home, several times, we finally decided on a color and a style. Dave decided to try to install it beacuse the honey ledge supposedly goes up easier than the other styles. We think (hope) it'll match the slate floors.

Now for the slate...Dave, can you start project # 5,786?

I'm so happy to have such a handy hubby.

Happy Anniversary Dad and Lizzie!!!

Found this Funny Card for Dad and Lizzie and had to share. So happy you two met.

Cheers on your special day!

Christmas Day Pictures

We had a lot of fun. Dave had to break out the tools for the tool box and Henry is running around with the doddle toy all of the time (finally-a quiet toy!!!)

Thank you to everyone who sent gifts.

Rocking Around The Christmas Tree

Last night at 9 PM Dave finally finished the Rocking Elephant he was making for Henry as a gift. Believe me, this project took so long to complete and Dave didn't really get started until this past weekend. In any case, it was my job to do the painting and that didn't begin until about 9:30 PM last night, which made for a long Christmas Eve for Mommy. So, this morning we put on the final touches and voila...we have "Nosey" the Heirloom Elephant. Something that Henry will have to cart around with him his whole life. :)

Hahaha.

Henry loves her!

The name Nosey comes from an Elephant we used to have and support at the Fresno Zoo. That will be a blog unto itself, but for now her memory will live on in my living room.
P.S. Henry saw that hat in my office and wouldn't take it off all morning until he opened the hat from his auntie Laurie-seriously.

Sweet Dreams

Santa Claws

I got these cute PJs for Henry for the Christmas Season. They have picture of Santa Lobsters and the label says "Santa Claws".

Just having fun.

By the way, I cut Henry's hair with some new thinning shears I got from the beauty supply store. This way I can keep it longer without having the Dorothy Hammel look.

'Twas the night before Christmas

'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house

Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse;

The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,

In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there;

The children were nestled all snug in their beds,

While visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads;

And mamma in her 'kerchief, and I in my cap,

Had just settled down for a long winter's nap,

When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,

I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.

Away to the window I flew like a flash,

Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.

The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow

Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below,

When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,

But a miniature sleigh, and eight tiny reindeer,

With a little old driver, so lively and quick,

I knew in a moment it must be St. Nick.

More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,

And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name;

"Now, Dasher! now, Dancer! now, Prancer and Vixen!On, Comet! on Cupid! on, Donder and Blitzen!

To the top of the porch! to the top of the wall!

Now dash away! dash away! dash away all!"

As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,

When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky,

So up to the house-top the coursers they flew,

With the sleigh full of toys, and St. Nicholas too.

And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof

The prancing and pawing of each little hoof.

As I drew in my hand, and was turning around,

Down the chimney St. Nicholas came with a bound.

He was dressed all in fur, from his head to his foot,

And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot;

A bundle of toys he had flung on his back,

And he looked like a peddler just opening his pack.

His eyes -- how they twinkled! his dimples how merry!

His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!

His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,

And the beard of his chin was as white as the snow;

The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth,

And the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath;

He had a broad face and a little round belly,

That shook, when he laughed like a bowlful of jelly.

He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf,

And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself;

A wink of his eye and a twist of his head,

Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread;

He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,

And filled all the stockings; then turned with a jerk,

And laying his finger aside of his nose,

And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose;

He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,

And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.

But I heard him exclaim, ere he drove out of sight,

"Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night."

(Please note where Henry has his hand) :)

O Tannenbaum

O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree,
Your branches green delight us.
O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree,
Your branches green delight us.
They're green when summer days are bright;
They're green when winter snow is white.
O, Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree,
Your branches green delight us.

Chocolate!

I received this very large chocolate bar for Christmas. It's about the size of a license plate. I tried to pawn it off on my friends, but they didn't go for it. Henry decided he wanted to help.
I think he's getting the hang of Christmas.

"Tate you...Nelcome"

Henry just now said these two words together. He said that as he handed Dave a big metal file which Dave is using to make Henry's Christmas gift.

Dave and I are beaming. Henry is running around with a bowl on his head.

Some things change and some things stay the same. :)

Mmmm, Mmmm Good

Phrase of the Dave (I mean Day)

It has been one of those gloomy days. The kind where you don't get a lot done and you can't motivate to fix dinner. I pulled out some marinated chicken and thought "hmmm, maybe I'll get creative?" Soon after Dave walks in the kitchen and in a funny tone says, "Hmmm, Cream of Chicken soup, noodles boiling.....Henry I feel a casserole coming on." I couldn't stop giggling and had to share.

Ooooooh, Woooooow!

This is Henry's favorite phrase. Didn't realize how much I said it until he started. Oh course, I don't think I accentuate the vowels quite the same way.

A Symbiotic Relationship

Henry loves to grab on to Asha and she loves her back end scratched. Together they make a perfect pair. So glad Henry can grow up with animals. I think it teaches children a lot about life.

Henry's First Portrait

This was taken at the hospital. Please note the finger...hahaha

May I have some Cheese with that Mint?

Last weekend we went out to the Olive Garden. Henry ate a couple of bites of food here and there. He would try to feed us more than himself. This was up until the bill came. Then he glommed onto one of those mints and wouldn't share at all. Guess he was saving his appetite for dessert. Here are some pictures of the car ride home. Yes, that is how we kept him from fussing.

Happy Hanukkah

Today is the first day of Hanukkah. Here are the blue lights we put up in celebration of the holiday. Hope Dave remembers our first gifts. Right Henry? :)

Festival of Lights

Just wanted to share some pictures of the Downtown area Holiday Lighting event. Apparently all of these displays used to be at someones home. After the neighbors made repeated complaints due to all of the increased holiday traffic the city made an agreement to set them up centrally. So, for about the past 8 years (I think), this has been a local tradition. It really warms up what used to be an out-of-date/ abandoned downtown area. With the remodel and the new college building (where I teach) and some of the new stores, it is becoming a really nice downtown.

Little Poser

Having fun getting this lil' monster ready for Christmas.

Squeaky Clean... Well Squeaky at Least

Rub a Dub, Dub, a clean Henry fresh from the Tub... or a shower in his case.

1-800-Grammy

Henry loves to talk to his Grammy. Even when she isn't on the phone he'll carry it around and jabber away. I had to get some shots of this. He even flashed his cheesy grin for this one. :)

Stay'n Alive!

So Mr. Henry has figured out how his zipper works. Now Dave and I can't keep it up. Sort of reminds me of John Travolta in Staying Alive.

"Bye, Bye"

The other day Henry put the swing set from his Little People set on his arm and ran around saying "bye, bye" as if it were a purse. I don't think he gets this from me (I carry a messenger type bag-over my shoulder), so I'm going to ask Dave if he carries a purse in secret. In any case, he carried on for about a half hour with this. It was funny.

"Don't just give a gift, Grant a Wish"

Last year we got Henry all dolled up (as an Elf) and had his picture taken with Santa at Sears. A store employee called a couple of weeks ago and asked if they could put one of the pictures on display.

Of course I said "Yes". And I was thinking... "I can blog that". Hehehe. Dustin you've created a monster.

He was a bit fussy that day and the Santa was a bit freaky looking. I wasn't super happy with the pictures so I also had some pictures taken with the Santa at the Mall. I thought the one taken at the Mall was better than the photos from Sears.

I told myself that I wouldn't post anything for Christmas until December, but I couldn't wait. Hey, the stores already have had holiday decorations up for 1-2 months. Actually, I am short on ideas for things to blog. Unless you all want to see some more pictures of our giant mushrooms?

All Turkied Out

Well, I had a yummy biscuit for dinner tonight. I had a smidgen of turkey, but those damn green beans were so offensive that I couldn't let them remain on my highchair tray. I threw them at my Mommy and Daddy and spit out all of the saliva in my mouth that bore that retched taste. How dare they give those to me. I'll have to pay them back with a few middle of the night awakenings. The dinner night was so traumatic that it drove me to hit the bottle. Ahhhh, leche sweet leche.

Something to be thankful for :).

Got Milk?

I was up early this morning and somehow came across a milk advertisement. Their new slogan is "Get the Glass" and they have a virtual board game. Kinda cute. http://www.gettheglass.com/ Just click on the "Launch Fullscreen" button. Have fun and Oh, drink your milk.

Three cheers for Troy!!!!

Word travels fast in this family. We heard you passed the Bar exam. We are so happy for you and I'm proud to be related.

I told Dave, "It must be in the genes". Dave's response was, "What to go to court and stand before a judge?" Hahaha, Smart ass.

Seriously, you studied so hard and it paid off. A job well done.

Congrats to Troy Sutton, Esquire

Gorilla and Lefty Save the Day

Yes, Henry is a Mama's boy. He still likes to cuddle and comfort himself by "nursing". Nothing too much there, but he sure does try. In any case, I got a notice for Jury Duty and guess what? Henry's prolonged need for Mama helped excuse Mama from her civic duty. Thank goodness, cause Mama's schedule is a bit out-of-control right now. If you don't believe me, just look at the time of this post. :)

P.S. The names Gorilla and Lefty will be explained at a later date. Lefty is pretty straight forward, but Gorilla needs some 'splaining.

Lil' Peanut

I was looking through pictures the other day and came across this. Gosh, look at how small he was. One week old. After looking at these I went up to his crib (he was sound asleep) and took him out so I could cuddle him. Will he let me do that when he's 16? Hope so.

WooHoo!!!

I was gone all day yesterday and I came home to two cute men and a clean house!!! Am I dreaming? If so, don't wake me up :)
